Best Formula 4 weekend for Yannik Brandt

Young drivers’ racing series takes place on the Nurburgring

Yannik Brandt came to a completely positive conclusion after the sixth event of the ADAC Formula 4 on the Nurburgring. The Lechner Racing Team’s protégé tied in with his recent strong performances and experienced his most successful weekend so far. He collected championship points in the rookie ranking.

Things are happening in quick succession at the ADAC Formula 4. Only two weeks after their last performance in Austria, everyone travelled on to the Eifel. The old-established Nurburgring welcomed the young drivers’ series for the ranked races 16 to 18. One of the 35 drivers was Yannik Brandt from Forch in Switzerland. The 15-year-old rookie had already shown a great development before the summer break and continued this on the 3.629m long track.

The Friday was all about free trainings. During two sessions, Yannik got accustomed to the track that was new to him and was confident in the evening: “I got faster from lap to lap and am hoping for a good result at qualifying tomorrow.” On Saturday morning he was ninth of his group and thereby had 17th and 16th starting positions for the first two races.

From the ninth starting row Yannik then experienced a chaotic first race though and fell back a little directly after the start. Nonetheless, he fought thrilling duels among the field of pursuers and gained further experiences. The second race on Sunday morning went considerably better. This time, the only way for the newcomer was forward. In the end, he barely missed his first championship points by coming in 11th. “In the end I can sum things up completely positively. I’ve learned a lot during both races. Unfortunately I just barely missed placing among the top ten at the second race”, Yannik summed up good-humoredly.

After the running-in of the first race, Yannik started into the finale of the weekend. In front of full spectator standings he repeated his catching-up race from the morning. During the course of the 30 racing minutes he drove past seven opponents and came in 13th. “This was a successful finish of a good weekend. I’ve collected several points in the rookie ranking and gained some ground. I now want to take another step forward during the remaining races and consolidate the results. I’m already looking forward to Zandvoort”, Yannik said finally.

The youngsters of the ADAC Formula 4 are already going to start at the next race in two weeks. Then, the high-speed young drivers’ school is going to start on the dune track in Dutch Zandvoort after a year-long break again.
